NAKFI is an experiment that leads to creative outcomes – ones that transcend the NAFKI Conference.

Conference Goals

Discover how collaborations can engage the public and other scientists and encourage discourse in important issues related to deep ocean science.

Collaborate with a diverse group of practitioners to grapple with real challenges, and explore how interdisciplinary, cross-professional discovery can benefit deep ocean science.

Create concrete projects that can (and ultimately do) lead to at least one of five kinds of impact – scientific, educational, social, technological and cultural.

Encourage new ideas, approaches, collaborations and projects that foster creative approaches to some of the most pressing global challenges, such as food and energy security, health, transportation, and related ecosystem services.
